The fightback began – in the movement phase several counter-charges and charges were declared, and four units were moved into position to benefit from sneaky Surge attempts. On the right, the Werewolves were Routed! First blood to the Forces of Good.
On the left, the Talonriders, Hunters, and Palace Guard chipped some damage onto the Ghouls, Mummies, and Skeletons respectively. Nature turn 2 saw the first combats of the game, with several charges on the left flank, while on the hill on the right flank, the Elven Spearmen (Spearelves?) charged the Werewolves who had rushed ahead of the slow bony Undead. The slow-moving Undead frustrated Natasha and Barry, who were keen to get into combat! CHARGE! The first turn for each side was largely uneventful, as the Nature army rapidly closed across the board while the Undead shambled slightly forwards in response. Kate and I won the roll-off for first turn and elected to go second. Natasha and Barry used this to their advantage, to get the Hunters of the Wild, Forest Shamblers, and Tree Herder closer to the Undead, and to get the Gladestalkers into range with their bows. Six units in the Nature/Elves army had the Vanguard special rule, meaning that after deployment but before the first turn, they had the option of making an Advance or At the Double! move. Setup Nature turn 1 – after Vanguard moves Our shambling hordes (literally) lined up as follows:Ģ Army Standard Bearers (one on an Undead Horse) Their army consisted of:Ģ Regiments of Hunters of the Wild įorest Dragon Īcross the table, Kate and I took command of the evil Undead. Natasha and Barry fielded the Forces of Nature with an allied contingent of Elves. The battle was 2,500pts, which is the new standard for Clash of Kings finals tournaments (2,000pts will be the standard in most tournaments). Last Friday, Natasha, Kate, Barry and I played a 2v2 battle of Kings of War using the new rules.
