though I understand the coding behind it all is an irrational and nonsensical mess, as per Boris.ĮDIT: If I were to offer one critique of the images, there appears to be a BIT of over-sharpening applied, with some 'halos' appearing around dark objects where they intersect with the sky.
That being said, since the game is already beautiful as is, then Boris has a nice 'lump of clayy' to work with as a starting point. you can't put lipstick on a pig and call it pretty, right? Shaders can add realism and cool effects, but that matters very little if the underlying game is ugly or poorly designed, i.e. Creative direction, asset design and world design have a tremendous impact on the look of a game. A lot of people are so down on the game's graphics, but I think it's already beautiful and your images capture this well.
